Mary Beth(Penn) Joseph

Mary Elizabeth (Penn) Joseph, age 49, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 01, 2012. A Toledo native, born on December 23, 1962 to Curtis and Linda (Dietsch) Penn, Mary Beth attended Christ the King Grade School and Notre Dame Academy [NDA]. Upon graduation she accepted a four-year scholarship to the University of Dayton [U of D]. Personal gifts, especially a love of music, allowed Mary's participation in musical productions from grade school through college. Initially she played the role of "Brigitte" in Central Catholic's Sound of Music; followed by "Little Mary Sunshine" NDA's very first musical of the same name; Mary Beth sang the role of "Haudel" in St. Francis de Sale's Fiddler on the Roof and eventually, "Sandy" in U of D's production of Grease. Before marriage, Mary utilized her Pre-Med background briefly and then settled down to raise a family in Pittsburgh, PA.

She is survived by daughters, Danielle and Tricia; son, Robert; loving former husband, Mark Joseph; her parents; brothers, Michael (Christine) and John (Michelle) Penn; sister, Deanna (Michael) McComish; and eleven nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 9 – 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, in the narthex. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.

A Memorial Mass will also be held at Mary Beth's home parish, on November 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louise de Marillac, 310 McMurray Road, Upper St. Clair, PA 15241.

In lieu of flowers, a grateful family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
