Mary Ann Thomasson

Mary Ann Thomasson, 86, of South Toledo, OH, passed away December 14, 2012, at The Manor of Perrysburg. She was born April 16, 1926, to Percy and Jessie Ward in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Libbey High School and was then employed at the Rossford Ordnance Depot. After raising her family, she worked for several catering companies, most recently working at The Toledo Zoo, where she was employed until the age of 84. Mary was an active member of the Auxiliary of the United Transportation Union for over 50 years and The Order of the Eastern Star. She could regularly be seen playing cards or dancing around town with friends at various Elks and Eagles clubs and the V.F.W. 606 club. Mary was a champion Wii bowler, participating in leagues at the Maumee and South Toledo Senior Centers.

She is survived by her son Rick, daughter Patricia (Jeff) Arft, daughter-in-law Sue, brother Jim (Eydie) Ward, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jeanette, June, and Betty, and her son Jim. The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Manor of Perrysburg, and especially Don Becker for his constant source of companionship to Mary over the past five years.

The family will receive guests Monday, December 17, 2012, from 3:00-6:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614.
