Mary Ann Rahe, age 73, of Toledo, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on July 3, 2015 at St. Clare Commons. Mary Ann was born December 1, 1941 in Toledo to William and Dorothy (Heckler) Thompson. Mary Ann was married to the love of her life, Sterling, for 42 years. She was employed with St. Agnes Parish as a financial bookkeeper for more than 30 years before retiring. Mary Ann was a life long member of St. Agnes Parish and most recently a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary every day. She took great pride in having family gatherings at her dining room table which often moved to the front porch for long evenings of great family fun and laughter. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cross stitching, listening to all different kinds of music, watching movies and taking weekend trips to Frankenmuth, MI with her husband Sterling. Mary Ann also enjoyed many family vacations with her husband, children and their families at the Carolina beaches.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was also preceded in death by her husband, Sterling E. Rahe, daughter Sharon Rahe, brother William L. Thompson and granddaughter Brittney N. Brazeau. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer J. (Roc) Roytek, son, Sterling W. (Becky) Rahe, daughter, Kathleen A. (Jim) Brazeau, daughter, Amy L. (Thomas) Swinford, daughter, Molly M. (Jasen) Guerrero, sisters, Kathleen and Patricia Thompson, grandchildren; Roc Jr., Nicole, Sarah, James, Jon, Caleb, Isabel, Brody, Cooper, Jamie and Brandy, great grandchildren; Austin, Taylor, Lilly, Gavin, Emma, Evan, Allie and Astra.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers that touched Mom's life during her stay at St. Clare Commons. They are forever grateful for the wonderful care and compassion given to her.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7pm. Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 am. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Celebration beginning at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 4227 Bellevue, Toledo. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Firefighters Museum (918 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43612) in Mary Ann's memory.
