Martin Edward Brown

Martin Edward Brown, age 80, of Waterville, passed on July 28 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1942 in Toledo to Leonard and Edna (McGovern) Brown. Martin graduated from Libby High School in 1960, worked at the Jeep Plant but decided to move on and serve his county in the Air Force followed by enlisting in the Ohio Air National Guard 180th in Toledo, OH for a total of 33 years in the service retiring in 1994 as a Chief Master Sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Donna K. Brown; sons, Wayne Brown (Jess Leach) and Kevin (Eairon Balle) Brown; granddaughters, Sarah (Scott Jr.) Delamater, Kaitlynn Brown (Jonathan Saleski), Bayleigh Brown (John Frank); four great grandsons and one great great grandson; sisters, Lee Ann Roberts (Denny Roberts), Nancy Kolacki (John), Wes Brown (Daphane); sister-in-law, Robin Dexter; brother-in-law, Bob Bango (Jessica) and 10 nephews, and nieces and 10 great nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his three Norwich terriers Terminator, Tess, and Ruby Lavendar.

Never one to stay idle, Martin began doing remodeling, building additions, and tackling various handyman jobs. He loved to work outdoors and was talented at landscaping much like his father Leonard who had been dubbed by Mayor Owens as the Father of Crosby Gardens. Martin and one of his best friends, Ray Fernandez owned and operated one of the first video stores in Toledo when they first became popular. He also enjoyed golfing in his spare time.

Besides enjoying his large family, Martin enjoyed hunting deer and duck, and fishing Lake Erie. He and his wife bred and showed Scottish deerhounds and later Norwich Terriers earning American Kennel Club championships. One deerhound he purchased was the number one deerhound in the country. Being active in the Toledo Kennel Club, he soon became accomplished in handling dogs and became the Conformation Director of classes for several years as well as the Show Chairman of the Toledo Kennel Club Dog Show for several years. He and his wife traveled to dog shows around the country in their motorhome until Covid hit the country.
