Martha Henoch (nee Tober) of Toledo, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. The youngest of 6 children, she was born on December 31, 1930 in Hermannsbad, Germany to Heinrich and Amalie Tober. After WWII the family was displaced by the Russians but eventually settled in Darmsheim, Germany. At the tender age of 20, Martha made the decision to start a new life in America. She worked as a wrapper at the former Sherlock's Bakery in Toledo, and in 1952 she met the love of her life, Willi Henoch, who was a baker and also a German immigrant. They were married on July 2, 1954 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Toledo.
Martha was a member of Bethlehem and Reformation Lutheran Churches, GBU District 510, the GAF retirees, and the GAF Society (German-American Festival). She and Willi spent many, many happy hours working at various club events as well as the German-American Festival where they chaired the Sidewalk Café – noted for its delectable German pastries. And oh how Martha loved to collect recipes!!!
She is survived by her loving son Hans O. Henoch of Lambertville, Michigan; her sister and best friend, Olga Carle of Lambertville, Michigan; Tracy Decker and her children Bill Decker III and Marci Decker; sisters-in-law Anneliese Tober of Dagersheim, Germany and Emmi Henoch of Düsseldorf, Germany and their families; and other family members and friends in Germany and the United States.
