Martha Earline "Granny" Henson (Richardson), age 94, of Holland joined her Lord on Thursday, October 9, 2014. She was taken peacefully while resting at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.
Known to all as "Granny", she was born June 12, 1920 in Florence, AL to Annie (Whitten) Richardson and George Washington Richardson. On December 24, 1938 she married Glenn "Red" Henson.
Granny and Red moved to Ohio in 1947. Red was an electrician at Hydromatic and Granny worked for Toledo Public Schools.
Granny filled her later years with family gatherings, church, Bunco, crossword puzzles, crochet and was rarely without a beloved Boston Terrier by her side named Princess or Suzy.
Brought up in the Church of Christ, Granny was Saved and a devoted Christian.
Granny is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Glenn "Red" Henson (1997), daughter Sandra Barrett (2006), grandson Jonathan Greenburg (2002), and brothers Cecil Richardson (1994) and Doyle Richardson (2011).
She is survived by son Robert (Cathy) Henson of Ypsilanti, MI., daughter Jean Greenburg of Holland OH., sisters Mary "Sis" Perryman and Doyce Clemmons of Florence AL., grandchildren Robbie (Tina) Barrett, Kristina (Mike) Mohler, MaryBeth (Paul) Lotrus, Robert(Jennifer) Henson Jr, Brian (Kristen) Henson, Nathan (Kristen Barrett, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the Mohler family for "adopting" Granny into their family.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2014 with a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Southwest Chapel at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614.
Following the service, internment will take place at Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
