Marsha Dunaway, 64, of Lambertville, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2012. She was born on June 16, 1948 to the late Alta and William F. Rogers in Toledo, Ohio.
Marsha graduated from Bowsher High School in 1966 and from the University of Toledo in 1970 with a Bachelor's in Education. She was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at UT. Marsha received her Master's in Education in 1979. She was an American and World History teacher for 35 years at Libbey High School. Before retiring in 2005, Marsha helped to lead the Small Schools Initiative through the Bill Gates Foundation at Libbey.
With her passion for history, Marsha made it her goal to travel throughout the world, with her most recent trips being to Northern Europe and Italy.
Marsha was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church; participating in the choir, Bookworms Group and Women's Bible Study. She also volunteered in the church Food Pantry and in the office.
Marsha served as the Cake Chairman of the Toledo Schwaben Verein, Worthy Advisor and Mother Advisor of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Brownie Leader at Smith Road Elementary, Quiz Bowl Advisor and Social Studies Dept. Chairperson at Libbey and supported the Symphonic and Theater Leagues at the Stranahan.
She enjoyed visits to Black Lake, Michigan, and camping in Indiana with her family. Marsha was an avid reader throughout her life. She loved spending time with her family and especially adored her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 42 years, Gerald; children, Brian (Heather), Julie (Jason) Eaton; brother, Todd (Kathy) Rogers; grandchildren, Katherine and McKenna Eaton; step-mother, Rosie Rogers; mother-in-law, Hilda Dunaway; and many other family members and friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Toledo (419-473-0300). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe Street in Sylvania. Visitation from 10-10:30 a.m. in the church. Pastor Chrysanne Timm officiating. Burial at Bedford Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
