Marlene (Creque) Whiteaker, age 69, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at St. Anne's Mercy Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born on March 14, 1939 to Lloyd and Lillian (Buttler) Creque in Toledo. Marlene was a Sylvania School Bus Driver from 1976 until she retired on June 1, 2005. She loved all her children on the bus and all children who became a part of her life. Marlene was known by many of them as "Mom" or "Grandma." She also loved animals. Marlene often enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Wood and brother, Harold Runkle. Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Bob Whiteaker; son, Robert Whiteaker; daughter, Robyn Whiteaker; grandchildren, Dustin, Jocilyn, Nicholas (Jessica) and Melissa (Tony); great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, Tony and baby Jack on the way; sister, Glenda Runkle; brother, Thomas (Kim) Runkle; and many other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life for Marlene will take place Sunday from 5 – 7:00 p.m. at Northtowne Meadows, 6255 Telegraph Rd., Erie, MI. The Newcomer Funeral Home assisted the family with professional services.
