Mark S. Merzke

Mark S. Merzke, age 66, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters. He was born on March 1, 1954 to James and Lois (Reed) Merzke in Toledo, Ohio. Mark was a graduate of Whitmer High School. He was employed with General Mills for 29 years until they closed. Mark then went on to work at Ort Tool & Die where he retired from in 2019. For much of Mark's life he and his family enjoyed vacationing at their family cottage on Black Lake in Onaway, Michigan. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing and canoeing with many of his friends. Mark was a diehard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan (Woodson) Merzke; daughters, Rachael (Thomas) Merzke-Weible and Jennifer (Zachary) Geisel; grandchildren, Breanna, Isabella, Elijah, Jocelyn and Oliver; siblings, Diane Fouquet, James (Barb) Merzke, and Kirk (Barb) Merzke; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Hubert Fouquet; nephews, Jamie Peck and Adam Woodson; and niece, Samantha Woodson.

There will be no visitation per Mark's wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
