Mark A. Faunt

June 18, 1958 — December 9, 2022

Mark A. Faunt Sr., age 64 of Toledo, Ohio went home to the Lord on December 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 18th, 1958 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Edward and Ardath (Wilkerson). He grew up in Erie, Michigan where he spent much of his childhood hunting and fishing with his siblings, working on cars, and working on farms in the community. He graduated from Erie-Mason High School in 1977. From there he joined and proudly served his country in The United States Navy from 1977-1982 on board The USS Concorde AF-5. While in the Navy, he spent time in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Cuba, he had many stories of his time on the ship. Mark was honorably discharged from The U.S. Navy on December 7, 1982.

Mark married the love of his life, Suzanne (Kitzmiller) on April 5th, 1985. Together, they had 3 kids, Mark Jr., Derrik and Shelby, his children were his pride and joy.

Mark was a jack of all trades, master of none, but could always get any job done. He had so many valuable skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, vehicle mechanic, HVAC and more. He was so proud to pass these skills along to his children, which he knows will get passed down to his grandchildren someday. Mark had the biggest heart in the world, he would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need, help with any project for friends and family and drop whatever he had going on in order to help his 3 children with what they needed at that time. Mark will always be remembered as the "fun Uncle Mark" to his nieces and nephews, they always knew that they were in for a good time if Uncle Mark was in attendance at a family gathering. He always had a special way with kids and animals, they would sense his positive vibes that would bring them peace and comfort. Mark had many nicknames, one of the most appropriate ones and the most used by his children was "Old Dude". Mark was always good for some banter with the people he loved most in his life.

Mark had many jobs over the years, he spent most of his younger years as a member of the Union Carpentry. One of his favorite places to work was 'The Andersons' where he worked in many different departments where he made a lot of friends over the years, including the pets in the pets department. He also worked in the Mower Center and FIC, where his love for assembling John Deere tractors grew. He could name any John Deere product with just a vague description. He was an avid fan of the University of Michigan Football and a classic car enthusiast. Mark loved spending time with family and friends at holiday parties, cookouts, family gatherings and camping. Some of his favorite and most competitive activities included playing corn hole and Euchre.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 37 years, Sue, his children, Mark Jr., Derrik (Sarah Hildebrandt), Shelby (Drew Sobota), granddaughter, Audrey "Maude" and his siblings, sister Kim Nelson and brother Jerry (Shannon) Faunt and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents Edward and Ardath, his oldest brother Edward H., along with his brother in-laws James Nelson, James Kitzmiller, James (Tom) Schonter and two nephews Taylor Kitzmiller, Joseph Kitzmiller and many other relatives.
