Marilyn Wright, age 78, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was born October 31, 1932 to Arnold and Marguerite (Freier) Prestin. Marilyn graduated from Whitmer High School in 1950. She married Roger S. Wright May 8, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio and worked at Spicer Automotive and Dana Corporation before adopting four daughters. She then cared for children in her home for years and then retired from Family Service of Northwest Ohio. Marilyn loved to travel and square dance with her loving husband and was also very talented in gardening, cross-stitching and painting. She was a long-time member of Reformation Lutheran Church, and also a member of the Panoramic Garden Club and Ohio Child Conservation League (CCL).
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband, Roger; four daughters, Shelly Fletcher of Toledo, Julie Balbach of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Wendy (Mike) Corcoran of Toledo and Brenda Wright of Huntington Beach, California; grandchildren, Kristen and Ryan Horner and Nicole and Derek Fletcher, as well as great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Kamaria. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Otto Krauss and son-in-law, Eugene Balbach.
The family will receive guests on Monday, August 15, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Road (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Stephen Bull. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
