Beloved wife of 30 years of the late Lee Shaffer Jr. Adored mother of Steven (Marilyn) Riewaldt, Laurie (Philip) Flanagan, Mary (Larry) Ray, Martha Riewaldt, and Seth (Sherrianne Sasala) Riewaldt. Treasured grandmother of Sara (Jeff) Meyer, Amy (Dennis) Kline, Anne Cody, Eileen (Craig) Kukla, Julie (Daniel) Caputo, Jennifer (Brian) Marsh, Brian (Dawn) Ray, Kathryn (Adam) Rodriguez, Hallie (Dale) Sagen, Hannah (TJ) Furco and the late Beth Riewaldt and Curtis (still living, Molly) Robinette. "GG Ma" and "Great Shaffer" to 27 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Barton (Patricia) Hooker. Many folks helped Marilyn stay independently in her own home, for many years. A special shoutout to the "Colleens" for their special care during the last year. And the staff at the Lakes of Sylvania for their excellent care right up to the end.

Marilyn had a love for genealogy, where she was able to trace her ancestry back to the Revolutionary War. As a member of the Ursula Walcott- Black Swamp chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 30 years, she helped others research their own ancestry to join the organization. Many members of the group expressed their appreciation for her hard work in assisting them. She enjoyed knitting most of her life, Marilyn knitted sweaters for every new child that entered her family. As an avid swimmer, Marilyn swam into her 90's. After her retirement from Blue Cross Blue Shield, Marilyn spent time traveling to places like the Caribbean, France, Ireland, and Greece with friends and family. Reading was a passion of Marilyn's, she enjoyed historical fiction. Marilyn will be dearly missed by her family members and friends.
