Marilyn K. Murray

Marilyn Murray, age 84, of Maumee, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Wood Haven Care Center. She was born on May 15, 1940 to Edward and Florence (Michalski) Gorlewski in Toledo, Ohio. Marilyn graduated from Whitney Vocational High School in 1958. She worked at Foodtown as a deli clerk for 17 years before retiring. In younger years, Marilyn and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling around the U.S. She loved animals, mainly dogs. She was an excellent baker and seamstress. Marilyn liked playing cards and Bunco. Her greatest passion was her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. Marilyn’s smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, John and Marian Murray; and brothers, Alan and Marvin Gorlewski. Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her loving husband of almost 64 years, Richard Murray; children, Denise (Joe) Waterfield, Shelly (Leo) Murray-Kieswether and Ronald Murray; grandchildren, Heather and Lisa Waterfield; and Nicholas (Alyssa), Nathan, Jaret and Richard Kieswether; great-grandchildren, Lilian, Greyson and Madison Kieswether; and brother, Roger Gorlewski; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. 

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 11:00 in the funeral home with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
