Marie Clara Sheets

Marie Clara Sheets, 93 years old, passed away on April 16, 2025. Marie graduated from Libby High School, as did her husband of 68 years. She was formerly a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, she later became a member of Community of Christ. 

Marie leaves behind a legacy of love and willingness to care for others. She was a caregiver for several family members and friends, always putting their needs in from of her own. She was a foster mother for 33 infants over a 4 year period of time, always having 2-3 infants at a time. In her community, Marie and her husband were "professional" volunteers and were very deserving of the numerous awards they earned for their time and dedication. She worked at the Lion Store for 20 years, retiring at the age of 61. They enjoyed countless hours with family and friends at their cottage in Reading, Michigan. She loved to feed people and never could anyone say that they left hungry. She served in the Eastern Stars, and was a member of the Margaret Hunt Senior Center, the advisory board of the Office of Aging, and the RSVP Patrol. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Sheets Sr; son, John M. Sheets II; parents, George and Clara Wilhelm; and sister, Alice Ritter. Marie is survived by daughter, Ellen (Dave) Nowak; grandsons, Michael (Miranda) Nowak and Brent (Katie) Nowak; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Mason, and Christopher Nowak. She is also survived by her brother, Clarence (Barbara) Wilhelm, and nieces and nephews.

We are profoundly grateful for the friendship of Teri, Joan and Julie. Thank you for your time and love to her. 

We will miss you mom, but you will forever be in our hearts. We are thankful for the time we had with you and know that John and Dad were waiting with open arms. Receive God's eternal promise and rest in peace forever. We love you mom.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Community of Christ Church, 6517 Finzel Rd, Whitehouse, OH, where a Funeral Service will immediately follow. A private burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
