Marie J.F. Wandscher (Oma Mikki) passed away peacefully early Tuesday, August 26, 2009. God claimed another prize rose from His garden! Through the thorny bushes of life, regardless of the circumstances that were placed before her or the people that crossed her path, the sweet beautiful fragrance of love and acceptance and her beauty of respect and compassion shined! No one was turned away without the offer of "Can I do something for you" nor was one ever treated with disrespect or judged because they looked or acted different than what was considered the "norm". Her life was lived not for personal gain, but one of acceptance of the circumstance and what she could do that might make it easier for those she came in contact with. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Marie was born on February 9, 1923 in Oldenburg, Germany to Anton & Gesine (Ramke) Saathoff. She married Georg H.P. Wandscher on September 21, 1946. They had 3 children, Helmtrud, Liselotte and Herbert. The family immigrated to the United States on April 11, 1958.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband, her daughter Helm and son-in-law Mark Byrne, and step son-in-law Erich Mueller.
