Marie Butler, age 64, of Toledo passed away Monday, April 11, 2005 at Lake Park Nursing Home. She was born November 25, 1940 to Bert and Adline (Harper) Merriweather in Chicago, Illinois. Marie was formerly employed with the Standard Oil Company for many years and CNN in Atlanta for several years. She was very active in the community, always fighting to make life easier for someone else. Marie enjoyed doing volunteer work and working on her computer and listening to music. She was also known for her love of QVC and delighted in ordering daily. Most importantly Marie cherished the time spent with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Debra (Steve) Lott of GA; Cheryl Butler of Toledo and Kenneth (Linda) Butler of GA; grandchildren, Christopher (Vanessa); LaToya; Kenneth Jr.; DeShawn; Ian and Xavier; siblings, Barbara (Aubrey) Smaw; Florence Merriweather and Charles Merriweather; great grandchildren, Cyrena; Jordan and Nayara and dear friend, Mamie Lee Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Butler and siblings, Delores; Dorothy and Bert.
The family will receive guests Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial Contributions may be made to Lake Park Rehabilitation Center.
