Marianne F. Zatko, age 78, of Sylvania, passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Flower Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1929 to Ambrose and Philomena (Colchin) Langenhorst in Elyria, Ohio. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and then became an LPN and worked for Dr. I. H. Kass, Pediatrician, for 15 years. She was a lifetime member of Christ the King Catholic Church, always remaining strong in her faith. Marianne loved computers and learning new things. After raising her children, she attended Owens Community College and majored in Business Computer Applications. She often enjoyed playing the organ, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading. She was an avid library goer. Marianne was an accomplished equestrian and schooled horses at Fox Meadow Farms. She was also an impeccable statistician for Springbrook Riding Club. Most important to Marianne was her family. She enjoyed family outings and was always the last one to leave. Marianne was like a mother to everyone she met, extending her warmth, kindness and love. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Langenhorst. Marianne is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Paul G. Zatko; children, Thomas (Michele) Madden, Jr., Nicholas (Paulette) Madden, Sr., Barbara (Tom) Huff, Andrea Zatko, Michael (Ann) Zatko, Eric (Lisa) Zatko and Ami (Donnie) Absher; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Zatko; brother-in-law, Frank Zatko; and many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Prayer Services will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Ln, Toledo. Officiating will be Fr. Michael O. Brown. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
