Maria Rodriguez

Maria Rodriguez, age 95, of Oregon, Ohio, passed Monday, November 14th, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by her family. She was born August 7th, 1916 to Ramone and Caridad Farinas in Calabazar Sajua, Cuba. Maria was the loving wife of Juan B. Rodriguez, whom she married January 6th, 1927 in Santa Clara, Cuba and together they raised eight children. Maria was a devoted grandmother of twelve, great grandmother of thirty and great-great grandmother of eleven. She truly enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her wonderful family.

Left to cherish her memory are Maria's children, Carmen Rodriguez Farinas, Olga (James) Goodwin, Irma (Sergio) Vasquez, Rita (Gilberto) Aquila, Ada Hernandez and Lazaro (Isabel Castex) Rodriguez Farinas; grandchildren, Jose (Odalys Mederos) De Jesus Diaz-Canel Rodriguez, Jorge Luis (Maria Del Carmen Machado) Diaz-Canel Rodriguez, Mayra (Oscar) Hernandez, Marilee (John) Cappello, Marisol (Norberto) Rodriguez, Tania (Orelvi Villavicencio) Martinez Rodriguez, Karel Rodriquez Castex, Kalex (Edelmis Tamara Hernandez) Rodriguez Castex, Maggie (Joe) Cromer, Maytee (John Jr.)Vazquez Clarke, Olga Morgan and Loretta Morgan; great grandchildren, Yasser Diaz-Canel Mederos, Yariel Diaz-Canel Mederos, Yiosvanny Diaz-Canel Alegria, Jorge E. Diaz-Canel Machado, Josue E. diaz Canel Machado, Janis Hernandez, Jodie Hernandez, Oscar Hernandez Jr., George Cappello, Johnny Cappello, Ariely Cappello, Sienna Rodriguez, Adyson Rodriguez, Brenda Villavicencio, Brian Villavicencio, Jose Rodriguez Hernandez, Maria Rodriguez Hernandez, Jazz Cromer, Lacey Cromer, Jovanny Clarke, Jacob Clarke, Beatriz Negrin, Lorayne (Carlos) Fournier, Saray Negrin, Janet (Norberto) Gonzales, Pedro Negrin, Tony Negrin, Luiber Gonzales, Lazaro Mayor and Alex Negrin; great-great grandchildren, Thaliana Cromer, Christian Negrin, Jonathan Alvarez, Jessica Alvarez, Joselyn Alvarez, Leslie Fournier, Lissetta Fournier, Armani Fournier, Carlos Fournier, Destiny Gonzales and Jasmine Gonzales.

In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Juan Bautista Rodriguez; sons, Roberto Rodriguez Farinas and Gilberto Rodriguez Farinas; great grandson, John Clarke; sons-in-law, Ernesto Diaz-Canel and Emir Hernandez and cousin, Mario Rodriguez.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery.
