Margarete Miles, affectionately known to many as “Nana”, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 at the age of 87 in her home. Born October 15, 1937, she was a cherished figure in her neighborhood. Known for her welcoming spirit, she helped who she could and never turned anyone away making a profound impact on everyone she encountered.

 Margarete owned Kobies Soulfood Restaurant, she expressed her passion for cooking and business, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that brought people together. Kobies restaurant was known for there hot tomales, a secret family recipe that Margarete passed down to her children and has been in the family for 5 generations. Her legacy of delicious food will be fondly remembered.

 In her early years, Margarete was a second grade teacher and taught as a Sunday school teacher at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Later, it as an exciting and profound moment in her life when she later began to study the Bible and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Nov 5, 2017. This commitment to her faith and Jehovah God attributed to her sweet and nourishing personality making her a beloved figure among friends and family.

Margarete was a devoted mother to her five children. Her two sons Frankie (Attima) Miles, and Lamont Miles and three daughters, Darcea Townsend-Jackson, Angela Truvette Miles, and Lauretta Satterfield. Her grandchildren that she lovingly raised as mom, Frankie, Angello, Robert, Marcus, Delvin and Tia Miles. A loving sister and is survived by one sibling, Maxine (Williams) Alexander. Special sons, Kenneth Satterfield, Eduardo Adams and her bible teacher who became family, Margarete Hyde. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter Darcea Townsend-Jackson, mother Deola (Shackelford) Webb, father Kobi Thomas, husband Frank Dee Miles Sr. Four beloved grandchildren, Eduardo Adams Jr., Levon Townsend, Lysander Townsend, Avanté Adams. Maragarete’s siblings, Freddie Webb, Lula May Parks, Eloris Harris, Robert Thomas, Ray Thomas.

Maragarete’s wit and humor will be missed but will continue to make us laugh and smile when we think of her.

 Visitation and services will be held on Jan 18, 2025. Viewing at 2pm followed by service at 3pm the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1722 Cherry St, Toledo Ohio 43604.
