Margaret D. Poage, age 96, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo after a brief decline in health. She was born October 6, 1914 to Frederick and Alice (Geoffrion) Behrendt in Toledo. On December 31, 1943 she married Charles M. Poage Sr. in Los Angeles and he preceded her in death. She worked at Champion Spark Plug for 10 years and also at The Lion Store, where she had many memorable dinners with her fellow co-workers that retired from the Lion Store. Margaret's family will fondly remember her seamstress skills and her ability to cook the best chicken paprikash dish ever. In her spare time she also enjoyed endless hours of needle pointing. Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Charles Sr.; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Penny (David) Cannon and son, Chuck (Denise) Poage Jr.; grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Cannon-Delycure, Dawn (Evan) Geerlings, Polly (Jeff) Konrad, Jessica (Terry) Thorne, Jennifer (Robert) Reynolds and Christy Crandall; great-grandchildren, Ava, Paige, Reagan, Reilly, Sydney, Madison, Noah, Annalise, Charley Mae and Wyatt; special friends, Mary Gaertner and Helen Binkley and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) and also one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Parkway. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
