Margaret Rose Bacon

Margaret "Margie" Rose Bacon, age 83, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away February 24, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 4, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late James and Margaret (McGuire) Leahey.

Margie was very proud of her Irish and Catholic heritage. She went to Gesu School for elementary, Notre Dame Academy for high school, and then went to Mercy College of Ohio, where she received her diploma as an LPN, which she was very proud of!

Margie worked as a nurse for Toledo Hospital. When she was starting a family, she decided to be a stay at home mom, caring for her loving husband and children. When her children were grown, she decided to get her CDL and become a bus driver for Sylvania Schools and drove bus for the handicapped. Margie adored the kids on the bus! She would decorate the bus to make it fun for the kids. She ended up driving bus for 25 long and dedicated years before her retirement.

In her earlier years, Margie enjoyed bowling and going out dancing Honky Tonk with her husband. She also liked playing cards and being artistic. Margie was a dog lover and had fun going to dog shows with her family. Most of all, spending time with her family was most important to her. She loved having everyone under one roof, where there would be lots of laughter and fun. The numerous vacations that were taken and the family gatherings where memories were made will forever be missed.

Margie's twisted sense of humor, love for family, and smile will be missed! She was a wonderful wife, loving mom, and supportive sister. This isn't goodbye, but we will see her again!

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her loving children, Robert (Nancy) Bacon, Margaret (Bruce) Meek, Bridget (Ken) Gummow, and William (Carmel) Bacon; grandchildren, Tim Gummow, Jacob and Josh Meek, Corey, Autumn, Sandra, and Courtnee Bacon; great grandchildren, Hayden Gummow, Mazie, Aris, and Castiel Bacon; sister, Patricia (Don) Brinkman; brother-in-law, Dave Matzinger and brother-in-law, Leonard (Joni) Bacon.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by her husband, William Bacon; and two sisters, Kathleen Matzinger and Mary Jo (John) Tillman.

Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3655 King Road, Toledo, Ohio 43617, on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A gathering will take place at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr St, Toledo, Ohio 43615, on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am. Margie will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
