Marcus L. Horn

November 27, 1970 — September 7, 2023

Marcus Lamont Horn was born on November 27,1970, in Toledo Ohio, to his parents Vanessa Horn and Leonard Wraggs. He departed this life on September 7, 2023, at Mercy Hospital. Marcus accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized as an adult at Cornerstone Church in Maumee, Ohio. Marcus met his best friend Tema Battle in 1989 and they married on December 17, 1993. Marcus and Tema became a synonymous couple… if you saw one you saw the other! God blessed that union with three beautifully intelligent children who respectively displayed the characteristics and talents of both of their parents.

Marcus attended Macomber- Whitney High School and later graduated from Woodward High School. He also attended Davis College and The Art Institute of Pittsburg, where he studied Graphic Arts design.

Everyone that knew Marcus knows that he loved to laugh, play video games, and watch Marvel/DC/Sci-Fi and Anime movies with his family.
Marcus had an array of gifts and talents that ultimately lead him into entrepreneurship, inspiring and teaching others, especially young people, how to best utilize and hone in on their own skills.

He and his wife homeschooled all three of his children and was proud of their accomplishments in their chosen career paths; Tela/Lucian- who is currently studying Computer Science, Marsaun Blade- who is HVAC Certified, and Marue Blaze -who aspires to attend Culinary School and open his own restaurant.
Marcus adored the opportunity to teach art class for Lourdes College's Upward Bound program with students from Waite High School and his alma mater Woodward High School. He also taught an after-school art class at Bowsher High School. All of his students affectionately referred to him as "MARS MARCUS".

Marcus was phenomenally talented in multiple forms of art including dance, original Hip-Hop, producing, song writing, creating and developing movie and T.V. scripts, drawing, creating logos, and graphic design.

In the Music Industry he was known as "BILLY BLADE". For more than two decades, Marcus wrote, produced and performed music with multiple artists worldwide. He also recorded several Hip-Hop albums under the family's record label, "Kaliba Records LLC". Marcus and Tema also founded a company called "Black Judah Comics LLC" where he served as the main artist, writer, producer and creator of several comic books, graphic novels, movie screenplays, T.V. shows, logos, and numerous characters. Marcus and Tema were proud to employ artists who lived abroad that more than happily assisted them with anything they needed to bring his characters and books to life.

One of Marcus's bucket list items included attending Comic Con Conventions in which he and his wife successfully became vendors and had a successful following for his creations which lead them to radio interviews and a once in a lifetime chance to co-host a podcast with Fred LaFebvre on WSPD iheart radio.

Marcus was proud that he completed and published and sold his first graphic novel in which he named "The Encyclopedia of Pangea".
Marcus was very determined and relentless in his pursuit to a successful career in everything he chose to do. With the gifts and talents that God blessed him with and his wife and children supporting him in any and everything that he chose to do, there is no doubt Marcus would've reached the pinnacle of the success that he so diligently pursued.

Marcus was preceded in death by his beloved mother Vanessa Ray Walker, maternal grandfather Curtis Horn, paternal grandfather Sammie Wraggs. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Tema Battle-Horn, his children Lucian Horn of Hinkley, CA, Marsaun Horn, and Marue Horn, his father Leonard Wraggs, his maternal grandmother Mary Horn, his paternal grandmother Elnora McNairy, his sisters Latanya (George) Wraggs, and Jasmine (Albert) Dees, his brothers Jaymon Walker, and Leonard (Laneita) Wraggs, mother- in- law Mary Battle, brother-in-law Dwain (Tammy) Battle, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
