Manuel Gonzales, a beloved Vietnam war veteran and devoted family man, passed away on May 20, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on April 30, 1942, to Frank and Ramona Gonzales.
Manuel served his country with honor and bravery as a member of the Army during the Vietnam War. His dedication and sacrifice will always be remembered and appreciated by those who knew him.
Manuel enjoyed pursuing his passions, including fishing, attending car shows, traveling and going on road trips. He had a deep appreciation for 50s and 60s music, as well as traditional Mexican tunes.
Above all, Manuel cherished his family. He had a special way of making each member feel loved and valued, especially those who were lucky enough to receive one of his perfect nicknames. His quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to every gathering, and he was always ready with a joke to make others smile.
Manuel will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His willingness to embark on the longest road trips, even if to stay just for a few minutes or just a few hours, will be remembered fondly by those who had the pleasure of joining him on his adventures.
In his passing, Manuel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be forever remembered as a devoted family man, a brave veteran, and a beloved friend.
In addition to his parents, Manny was also preceded in death by his 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (Shawn) Engelhardt and Tina Marie Stvartak; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene, Helen, Carmen, Linda, Esther and Rick; very special baby sister, Margie and special brother-in-law Joe Cardenas.
The family will receive guests Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday, May 31, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Locust at Erie Streets Toledo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in Manny's memory.
