Mabel A. Baker

Mabel A. Baker, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2, 2014. She loved traveling with her husband Walter, gardening, puzzles, cooking for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the holidays. Her Christmas village was the envy of all of her friends and family. Mabel's generous spirit showed through with her volunteering; including Edgewater School, March of Dimes for 20 years, VFW Auxiliary Post #3265 and the American Legion Post #110.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Jane (Near) Gertz; brother, Richard Gertz and daughter in law, Patricia Baker. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Walter Baker; children, Richard (Evelyn) Baker, James Baker and Jane (Mark) Graybell; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth (Harold) Crites, Theodore Gertz and David Gertz.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery.
