Lyle Ray Fortney, age 63, of Sylvania, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 25, 1953 to Thomas and Zelda (Jamison) Fortney in Fairmont, West Virginia. Lyle now begins his new life in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. He loved his church and was a 35 year member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Lyle worked for Instron for 40 years before retiring in January 2016. He enjoyed coaching his kids and grandkids sports teams for nearly 30 years. Lyle loved traveling, playing softball, and helping anyone who needed a hand. He loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen Fortney; son, Andy (Aimee) Fortney; daughter, Beth (Richard) Hall; grandchildren, Grace, Emma, Tyler, Brian, and Matt; mother, Zelda Fortney; siblings, Brent (Tana) Fortney and Marla (Kevan) Taylor; uncle, Jim (Margaret) Fortney; and many other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Hall.
The family will receive guests on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 4207 Laskey Rd. Toledo with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will be Private at Resurrection Cemetery.
