Lydia Rooks, age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 12, 2014 at home surrounded by loving family. She was born on October 16, 1926 to Ferdinand and Flora (Belzer) Karcher in Toledo. Lydia retired from Sears, catalog department, after many years. She enjoyed boating, fishing and taking occasional trips to the casino and game room. Lydia also loved golfing and volunteered at Bay View Golf Course; Phil Mickelson being her favorite. She loved the sun and spending time in Florida with her husband. Lydia was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and sister, who will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Netry; and second husband of 54 years, Donald Rooks. Lydia is survived by her children, Jean Netry, Randy (Shawna), Jeff (Stephanie) and Greg Rooks; grandchildren, Corey (Jason), Ryan (Kristina), Jamie (Brian), Ashlee, Breann, Lacie and Kelsi; great-grandchildren, Connor, McKenzie, Jaelei, Alexi, Keira and Camira; brothers, Edbert (Shirley) and Gerald (Laurel) Karcher; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
There will be no visitation for Lydia, per her wishes. The Newcomer Funeral Home, (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
