Lula Mae Shelton, age 73, of Toledo, passed away September 18, 2021 peacefully at her home. She was born October 24, 1947 in West Virginia to Cecil and Hazel Farmer. Though Lula had no biological children she became a mother to many. She adopted 8 of her nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Lula" to family and friends alike. One of her love languages was food and Wow! could she cook! Every holiday she made enough food to feed an army. And if someone needed a meal her door was always open. She also loved fishing.
Lula spent 20 years raising kids and after she was done at the age of 70 she decided to go on her next adventure, college! She attended liberty University online and received a certificate in biblical studies. She loved learning more about God and as she learned her love for God grew even more.
Lula was the matriarch of the family. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Lula is survived by her children, Tiara Lawson, Tamara Lawson, Larry Lawson, Taneka Dick (James), Johnathan Smith, Robert Lawson Shirley Lawson and Analyssia Lawson, She is also survived by her siblings;Shirley Bryson (Larry) Anita Farmer, Ricky Farmer and Timothy Lawson, several grandchildren. Her caregivers Tiaunna Lawson and Tiara Lawson. She is preceded in death by her son Joseph Smith and a host of brothers and sisters.
The family will receive guests Friday, October 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 12:00 pm. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
