Lucille Wegner

Lucille "Lu" (Frosch) Wegner 88, of Toledo, passed away Saturday night at her daughter's home in Falmouth, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Robert "Bob" Wegner.

Lucille was the eldest of eight children of the late Albert and Elma (Seeman) Frosch. At a young age, Lucille took on the responsibility of helping to raise her younger siblings. She developed a lifelong passion of devotion to her family which continued through the time she relied on her family to care for her. Her final wish was to be in their care, at home until she took her final breath, which was granted Saturday night with her family by her side.

Lucille and her husband Robert called Toledo their home for over 80 years. Lucille worked at Libbey Glass Company during the 1950's. The family attended Trinity Lutheran Church between1953-1961, and later attended Peace Lutheran on Hawley St. from 1961 until its closure. Lucile and "Bob" were both members of the Teamsters Local 20, "Retirees to Action", both were active members serving in a multitude of roles. Most notably the many labor blood drives they participated in. They relocated in 2002 to the Fredericksburg Virginia area to be closer to their only daughter and her family. The couple flourished in Virginia as they had in Ohio bringing the light of their lives to many new friends as well maintaining their numerous old friendships.

Lucille was a caring, open funny lady who touched the lives of everyone that she met. Through her kindness and generosity of sprit she brought joy and happiness to all that knew her.

Surviving are: her only daughter Kathy Shoup and her husband Kevin of Falmouth Virginia, three grandchildren: Kerry Huston of Falmouth, Michelle Mayerlen and her husband Thomas of Jacksonville, Fl and Morgan Wood and her husband Joe of Unionville, Va. Along with three great-grandchildren Sterling, Gunner and Garland Mayerlen of Jacksonville. Also surviving are four of her sisters; Doris Milewski, Jackie Collingwood, Joanne Schmidt and Barbara Scherer, all of Toledo.

Lucille will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH July 18th, 2009.
