Lowell J. Swartz

Lowell J. Swartz age 82 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on April 15, 2025, at Ebeid Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on March 2, 1943, to Luther and Dorothy (Kepler) Swartz. He served his country with the Army National Guard.

Lowell was employed at Bostwick Braun as a salesman and ODOT as a roadway and bridge inspector. He loved fishing on Lake Erie, bowling, and yard work. He was always very proud of his lawn.

Lowell enjoyed sports including, tennis, golf, the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians (Guardians) and the Ohio State Buckeyes; riding his bike and attending church services on Sundays. He especially enjoyed spending time with family whether it was for dinners or watching ball games.

He will be remembered by his little cards he’d pass out to anyone and everyone. One being a picture of Pride (a bottle of furniture wax) & Joy (a bottle of dish soap). He would start by asking if you wanted to see his pride and joy and then hand you the picture with the “Pride & Joy” bottles on it. You couldn’t help but chuckle. He also would pass out his famous Wishagain cards for Michigan fans. Lowell was a talker for sure, had lots of stories to tell, and made us smile when he said, “Jiminy Christmases”.

Surviving is his daughter, Janine (Darryl) Betterly; son, Bryan (Jody) Swartz, granddaughter Marissa Swartz; Grandsons Matthew (Olivia) Swartz, Chaning (Brandi) Swartz, Evan Swartz and great-granddaughter Sadie Swartz. Also surviving are brothers Glenn (Mary Lou) Swartz, Paul (Betty) Swartz and sister, Lillian Slentz-Jackson,

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Swartz; mother, Dorothy Swartz and brother, Leonard Swartz. Services for Lowell will be private.
