Louis E. "Big Lou" Snider, Jr., died on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born on February 24, 1937 in Toledo, OH. Lou graduated in 1955 from DeVilbiss High School where he met the love of his life, Raye Ellen Jackson. After high school he delivered toys to area grocery stores. Lou was a racing car enthusiast and street drag raced a 57' Pontiac. He was often known to line up night races at a local White Hut restaurant. Lou began a tire business out of his residential garage which he eventually expanded into "Lou's Speed Shops". As the speed shops grew into multiple locations, he opened up an installation parts place known as Mother's Sunoco. Lou also had a machine shop for racing engines known as Zap Competition Engines. Business went well and he expanded his business to Racers Warehouse, which stocked racing parts shipping worldwide. Lou's attention and love turned to off road motocross (motorcycles) and he expanded into motorcycle dealerships known as Suzuki International and Power Rider. He expanded Power Rider into PR Racing Engines; a machine shop for motocross engine building. Lou's success was big and he bragged of many national titles. He enjoyed working and his duties in the machine shop. His remaining years were spent as a valuable part of an e-commerce motorcycle part business. What a life! Lou loved business, customers, triumphs, boating, fishing, and sprint car racing. We will miss what an industry calls "An American Icon". God Speed Lou ~ your smile and spirit will never be forgotten!
Left to cherish Lou's memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Raye Ellen Snider; sons, Louis (Debbie) Snider, III and Jeffrey Snider; grandson, Louis E. Snider, IV; and many loving dear friends.
