Louis Hibbs, age 74, of Sylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born on December 11, 1942 to Leslie W. and Ann (Chengges) Hibbs in Toledo.
Lou was a proud Woodward High School Polar Bear, Class of 1960. He earned accreditation as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and was a financial services professional for many years. Among others, he was associated with Savage and Associates for 18 years and most recently with Caputo & Associates. He was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Lou was known as "Judge" with the Great Black Swamp Frogs Base Ball Club where he was the umpire. He was an avid Detroit Pistons and Toledo Mud Hens fan for years. Lou was a master of card tricks and the joke, having the gift of telling one that fit perfectly into any conversation. Even if you'd heard the joke before, he would make you laugh again. Lou was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Toledo.
Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 43 years, Tina Hibbs; children, Michelle (John) Glanville and Jim Hill (Karin Perez); grandchildren, Bethany Donahue, Matthew (Sarah) Donahue, Kristopher Berrie, Zachary Berrie and Jackson Glanville; great-granddaughter, "his precious little girl" Olivia Louise Donahue; sister, Mary Ann Harachis; brother in law, French (Carol) Owens; many nieces, nephews and cousins especially, Linda (Mike) Cleveland and Cathy Chengges; best friend since 4th grade, John "Bushrod" Husman and his wife, Sandy; beloved dogs, Mya and Archer and turtle, One-Eyed Joe.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother in law, Sam Harachis.
The family will visit with guests on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 1-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). His Celebration of Life will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Legakis officiating.
