Lorena "Fay" Kemp, age 89, passed away at home where she was surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 28, 2014. She was born in New Haven, West Virginia on February 12, 1925 to Emory and Freda (Hoffman) Hart. Fay was a graduate of Wahama High School in Mason, West Virginia. After high school, she settled in Northern Ohio and married Paul R. Kemp. Fay worked for Franklin Ice Cream & Candy Co., she really enjoyed the time that she worked there. She also was employed by Secor Industries for many years. After retirement, she loved to garden, read, crochet and work cross word puzzles. Most important to Fay was caring for her family; they were her pride and joy, especially the grandchildren.
For many years, Fay and Paul enjoyed going to Catawba Island where fishing was their main objective. The time spent there was some of the happiest of her life. Fay enjoyed gardening, canning and sharing her crop with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Clement Church for 57 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jeanne (James) Woods and Jennifer (Mark) Scheuer; grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Morse, Tobin (Tina) Morse, Emily Scheuer, Zachary Scheuer and Dean Scheuer and her first great-grandson, expected in September; sister, Loueva Dick; brother, Donald (Marge) Hart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Kemp; brother, James Hart; sister, Lois Bumgardner.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Clement Church at 10:00 a.m., 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Rev. Francis Speier officiating. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
