Lorece Murphy Brown

August 23, 1923 — April 27, 2018

Lorece Murphy Brown was born August 23, 1923 in Grenada, Mississippi to the union of John and Magnolia Murphy. She departed this life on Friday April 27, 2018 at Heartland of Promedica, Sylvania, Ohio. Affectingly known as Murph or Ma Brown she was preceded in death by her parents, sister Johnnie Mae Watts, and brother Dean Murphy.

She left Grenada at the age of 16 to move to Toledo, Ohio to live with family friends. She resided in Toledo for more than 75 years. During her life, she enjoyed working as a volunteer for nonprofits, hospitals, and church fundraisers. She was raised as a Baptist and later converted to the Lutheran Faith. She was a charter member of the Original Ascension Lutheran Church on Forest and Pinewood where she served as a Choir member, church council member, and council president. Lorece was extremely proud of leading the membership to help pay off the church's mortgage. She also participated in the Foster Grandparent Program and worked as a poll worker for the Board of Elections for several years.

Lorece was united in holy matrimony to Horatious P. Brown, Sr. who preceded her in death. Lorece was a grandmother, great grandmother, and a great great grandmother. She retired from Purex Manufacturing formally known as Dial Corp and originally known as Sinclair manufacturing located on North Detroit. She enjoyed spicy food, traveling, cruising, casinos, playing cards, coloring, watching the Sy-Fy channel, and Blood Mary's. In her lifetime Lorece had 7 poodles, 3 mixed beagles, and 2 German shepherds that she loved dearly.

Lorece leaves to cherish her memories her sons Horatious (Marjorie) Brown II of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, Raymond (Rose) Brown of Holland, Ohio and Daughter Linda Brown-Ewing of Toledo, Ohio.
