Lonnie M. "Scott" Blackwelder III, age 70, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away May 22, 2023, at Ebeid Hospice. Scott was born January 24, 1953, in Burlington, North Carolina, to the late Lonnie and Nellie (Lowe) Blackwelder Jr.
Scott graduated from Bellevue High School in Nebraska. After school, he received a certification as an electrician. He worked at Gerdau Steel Mill as an industrial electrician, in Monroe, Michigan, for 13 years, where he retired in 2019. He decided to work at AutoZone part time during retirement, which is where he was currently employed.
Scott, also known as "Gramps" too many, was a member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, where he was a Charter member for over 25 years. He had a passion for motorcycles and loved restoring them. He enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle, with his wife, Lee. With motorcycles being a passion of his, he also liked to shoot pool and bowl. Most of all, family was most important in his eyes. Scott was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He will truly be missed by those who knew him. This isn't goodbye, but we will see you later! Until then, ride on!
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Madelyne "Lee" (Vanderhoff) Blackwelder, whom he married on September 22, 1981; daughter, Rhonda (Dale) Schroeder; grandchildren, Shelby Schroeder and Denise (Tyler) Barber; great granddaughter, Hannah; siblings, Sue (Leland) Neese, Pat (Brock) Pappas, Rick (Beth) Blackwelder, and Terri (Gary) Fitch; nieces, Kristina (Derick) Kieffer, Karri (Ryan) Knoblauch, and Rachel Sievert; nephew, Preston Blocker; and great nieces and nephews, Alexis, Gavin, Madelyne, Hayden, and Christian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Blackwelder.
Family and friends may gather at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 2:00 pm until the time of his funeral service at 3:00 pm, with Tim Ciesinski officiating.
