On Sunday morning, May 6, 2012, God wrapped his arms around a kind and wonderful man and said, "come with me, no more pain," and took Lloyd E. Chestnut to Heaven. He was born June 13, 1928 in Toledo to L.E. and Alice (Brown) Chestnut. Lloyd enjoyed playing Bridge, Cribbage and poker; he was life-long member of VFW Post #606, where he was also involved with Cooties. Every Monday Lloyd played cards at the VFW Post #606 where he made great friends with Cutty, Bill Ellis, Dave Perkins and Ed Hassen. In his spare time he loved watching and cheering for the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and the Kentucky Derby.
Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and loyal caregiver, Sandra White; niece, Amy (Tim) Schenk; great niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Alexander and many wonderful friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Jean Hoffmann and her husband, Gordon.
Friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at VFW Post #606, 3005 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, Ohio 43613.
A special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and also to West Toledo Rehabilitation for the love and care they provided to Lloyd.
