Lionel B. Blackburn

Lionel B. Blackburn, age 67, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Corona, California, on January 21, 1954, to the late Edward and Agnes (Hooks) Blackburn.

Lionel proudly served in the United States Air force, where he had worked as a cook. Lionel enjoyed being outside taking care of his garden or just tinkering around. He was a collector of all things, such as: coins, cards, and stamps. An avid sports fan, he always followed his Cincinnati teams like the Bengals. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 40 years. Lionel and his wife, Debbie, enjoyed gambling; they would always take trips to Las Vegas. Lionel was a family man; he enjoyed cooking and caring for them. Most of all, he loved and cherished his grandkids. Lionel will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to forever cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie (Rohlman) Thompson-Blackburn, whom he married on June 6, 2000; four children, Jesse (Danielle) Blackburn, John (Lisa) Blackburn, Chris (Tara) Thompson, and Tiffany Secord; eleven grandchildren, Katie, Chris, Kelly, Luke, Brady, Evan, Bryce, Hattie, John Jr., Makenzie, and Margaret; a sister, Yvonne (Bob) Haas; three brothers, Herbert (Monica) Blackburn, Mark (Connie) Blackburn, and Bob (Loretta) Blackburn; and his loyal canine companion, Sissy.

In addition to his parents, Lionel was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Skylar Blackburn.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, where the funeral will take place at 1:00 pm, with Father Albert Ceranowski officiating.
