Lindsey Whitehead was born on March 1, 1934, in Dublin Georgia, to the union of Claude and Johnnie Mae Whitehead. He entered his heavenly resting place peacefully on June 4, 2012, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Azree Hines and his brother, Clifton Whitehead.
While living in Dublin Georgia, Lindsey professed his faith in Christ at Williams Chapel Baptist Church; a church founded by his great-great grandfather, Reverend Dan Williams. Lindsey met Aleada Shotwell, in Miami Florida; they were later married April 10, 1957. Their union produced five wonderful children.
A pillar to his community, Lindsey's true convictions were his unflinching devotion to his family, faith, and education.
Lindsey was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served 20 years in the United States Air Force and upon retiring relocated to Toledo Ohio. Lindsey then entered the criminal justice career field and for 16 years worked in the Lucas County Adult Probation Program and served as Director for eight of those years. After retiring from the probation department, Lindsey taught at Owens Community College and during his tenure he spent the last four of those years as the Director of Counseling and "officially" retired in 1998. However, because of his passion for education and teaching, for the last 14 years, Lindsey has taught on a part time basis at Lourdes University.
Lindsey was honored to be a husband, dad, and papa to his angels. To him, this was his greatest joy in the whole world. Lindsey was a quiet, humble and a faithful servant of the Lord. He was always willing to help in whatever capacity necessary, responding with Godly wisdom and advice.
