July 20, 1948- October 19, 2024 Linda Ann Meier, aged 76, passed away on October 19, 2024 at her home in Toledo, Ohio. She was born on July 20, 1948 to Clifford and Virginia (Crawford) Plageman and had one sister, Judy, with whom she was very close. Linda was a resident of Toledo all of her life and graduated from Rogers High School in 1966. She attended the University of Toledo where she earned an Associate’s Degree in the field of business.
After college, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Michael, on July 26, 1969. She was the beloved mother of Melissa and Andrew and amazing “Gran” to Madelyn and Priscilla. Linda was very devoted to her family. She loved preparing delicious meals and planning and hosting family gatherings.
Linda had several occupations throughout her life. She worked at Montgomery Ward for 20 years where she established many friendships. Most recently, Linda worked as an antique dealer who researched, purchased, and displayed antique pieces to sell at her beautiful booth at the Maumee Antique Mall. Antiques were her passion and she lit up when discussing them.
Linda was a talented watercolor artist and belonged to the Toledo Women’s Art League. Her beautiful paintings which include flowers, barns, and landscapes adorn several walls of her family home.
Linda had an adventurous spirit and loved going on road trips both solo and with loved ones. Pokagon State Park in Angola, Indiana was one of her favorite destinations. She also loved frequenting local attractions and attending local events such as the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art, Grand Rapids Applebutter Festival, and Roche de Boeuf Festival. She had a favorite saying that, “Not all who wander are lost.”
Linda was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Most recently, she and Michael attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo. The hymn “When Peace, Like a River” was especially meaningful to Linda.
Linda leaves behind her husband Michael Meier, children Melissa (Meier) Martin and Andrew Meier, granddaughters Madelyn Martin and Priscilla Meier, sister Judy (Plageman) Cleghorn, cousins Tom and Steve Plageman and Jana (Plageman) Gessner, and sisters-in-law Patricia (Meier) Gray and Diane (Meier) McKinney to celebrate her life.
Visitation for family and friends will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 4560 Glendale Ave. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be offered to Trinity Lutheran Church or a ministry of choice.
