Lillie Mae Martin, age 83, of Riga, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 11, 1925 to Athie David and Minnie Lou (Mitchell) Andrews in Athens, Alabama. She attended Blissfield Baptist Church. Lillie was always working, but was best known for her smiling face as a waitress at Big Boy. She enjoyed doing all types of needle crafts and loved gardening and fishing. Lillie enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lillie is survived by her children, Barbara (Charles) Carter, David (Susan) Martin, Priscilla (David) Ramsey, John (Rose) Martin, Deborah Martin, Linda (Robert) Slusarski and Timothy (Paula) Martin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Beulah Sims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John J. Martin and 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 4 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
Those wishing to make monetary donations are asked to consider Hospice of Lenawee County.
