Lillian M. Coleman, age 97 passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Franciscan Care Center, Sylvania, Ohio. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on January 25, 1913 to Thomas and Stella Henehan.
Lillian worked in the medical library at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for 15 years retiring in 1978. She was active in the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center Retirees until her move to the Franciscan Care Center. She also was active in the Hope Manor Senior organization where she lived for 20 years.
Lillian was an avid tennis enthusiast participating in competitive tennis tournaments in Ottumwa before moving to Toledo. She loved sports in particular horse racing. She also was very proud of her Irish heritage always enjoying a little green beer on St. Patrick's Day.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Rehkopf; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karen) Rehkopf, Matt (Jennifer) Rehkopf and Carrie (Jeff) Taylor; and great-grand children, Seth, Eva, Bailey, Penelope, Aidan, Nic and Fiona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John D. Coleman and sister, Margaret L. Burdge.
The family gives special thanks to the wonderful staff of the Franciscan Care Center for their loving and compassionate care of Lillian.
Respecting Lillian's wishes burial will be private. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider the Franciscan Care Center and Mobile Meals.
