Lester C. Haas

Lester C. Haas, of Toledo, Ohio went home to meet his Lord and Saviour on June 20, 2013 after a long battle against heart disease. Lester was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for A & P, later retiring from Abitico in 1999. Lester was an avid sports fan, player, coach, and umpire. Lester's devotion to his wife, Betty of fifty years, and their family was boundless. Lester was a loving, happy, and selfless man that will truly be missed by all.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Helen (Smith) Haas; brother, Bernard Haas; and a nephew and 2 nieces. Lester is survived by wife, Betty Haas; children, Kathryn Gossett, Michael (Suzy) Haas, Robert (Patti) Haas, Greg Haas, Amy Hartford and Terri Pope; grandchildren, Kyle and Austin Gossett, Brittany and Chelsea Haas, Matthew and Justin Kelsey, Courtney Haas, Nathan Van Alstine, Brandon Schultz, Katrina (Mike) Young, Frances and Davida Pope; great grandchildren, Paige, David, Kaleb, Olivia, Kaiden and Aubrey Young and 9 additional; brothers, Paul (Elvina), Gilbert (Helga) and Thomas (Kitty); sisters, Mary Tolson, Patricia Lemle, Catherine Moye and Thelma (Ron) Lemon.

The family will receive guests Monday, June 24, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
