Leonard C. Rossman, age 92, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He was born in Toledo, OH to Arthur and Alma (Darr) Rossman in Toledo, OH. Leonard was raised in Millbury, OH and graduated from Genoa High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. Upon his return he married Betty Rodeheaver. Leonard worked at the Toledo Blade in Retail Advertising for 45 years until retiring in 1994. He was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
The family has fond memories of yearly 3 week camping vacations, visiting every state in the U.S. except California and Alaska. Leonard also enjoyed fishing and golf. He was well known for his love of remodeling the homes they lived in and often times shared his skills with friends. In Leonard's later years, he liked his weekly breakfasts with his Blade friends and was an active part of the Blade-Times Retirees Club. He also developed many new friendships by becoming an avid "mall walker". Leonard was most proud of the fact that he was a blood donor of over 80 times! His smile, spirit, sense of humor and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Leonard is survived by his loving children, Gary and Dean Rossman, Diane (Joe) Cutcher and Gail (Dave) Stasko; grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle, Haley, Riki, Tiffany, and Jenna; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Kenneth (Pat) Rossman, of Eaton, OH. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty; and brother, Gerald Rossman.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Mass will begin Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo 43623. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
