Leonard Livecchi, 71, of Scarborough, Maine, passed away on August 19, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Leonard was born in Toledo, Ohio. He married his wife, Joan (Schwartz) Livecchi in 1968 and they moved to Temperance, Michigan. They called both Temperance and Lambertville, Michigan their home for 42 years. In 2013 they moved to Scarborough, Maine, to live closer to their daughter, Maria, and her family.
Leonard was a graduate of Macomber High School and went on to become a Tool & Die maker. He was a proud partner of Abbott Tool, Inc., (Dura Drive) of Toledo, Ohio, with his buddy, Art Stange. He loved going into work every day until his retirement in December of 2013.
He was an accomplished trap and skeet shooter and enjoyed shooting on several teams with his friends from Abbott Tool. During his spare time he could often be found watching World War II movies and sorting through his stamp collection. He loved the Toledo Zoo and always referred to it as "The Crown Jewel of Toledo." He could also be seen on the sidelines, watching his grandchildren play soccer and baseball.
Leonard leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Joan; and their daughter, Maria, and her husband, Michael Connolly. His two grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas will miss their Pappy. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann; his brother, Albert and his wife, Marilyn, sisters-in-law, Donna and Kathy, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father, Leonard; sister-in-law, Sallie Hahn; and brothers-in-law, Leonard Kinor, Bob Wallace, Bill Schwartz, and Don Hahn, all of whom he greatly missed.
When asked about life, Big Len would always reply "It's a challenge." He took that challenge seriously and left behind a great legacy, cherished memories, and many "Pappyisms."
The family will receive guests on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 1 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a Memorial Service beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
