Leonard P. Gorski, Sr., age 93, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 07, 2012 in the Sylvania Care and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 21, 1918 in Toledo, Ohio to Michael and Bertha (Sepanski) Gorski. Leonard served his country in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic during WWII. He was employed as a foreman for over 25 years with U.S. Standard Sign Company, and also worked for Autolite for 25 years as a machinist. Leonard was a former lifelong parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Church where he sang in the church choir, and always had tickets to sell before masses for many different organizations. He was also active with the Catholic War Veterans Jude Thaddeus Post, VFW Buddy Frankowski Post 5530 and the Knights of Columbus. Leonard was an avid Detroit Tiger and University of Notre Dame fan.
The widower of Virginia (Kolecki) Gorski who passed away July 2, 2003, Leonard is survived by his loving family, children, Terence (Barbara) Gorski, Michael (Judy) Gorski, Leonard (Jan) Gorski, Jr., and Mary (Stewart) Raney; grandchildren, Brian, Karen, Julianne, Erica, Amy, David, Allison, Andrea and Emily; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Bublick. In addition to his parents and wife, Leonard was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Howard.
The family will receive guests Friday, March 9, 2012 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, (419-473-0300). A Rosary will be recited Friday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church. A military committal service will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
