Leo J. Shagena, Jr.

Leo J. Shagena Jr. age 79 of Toledo, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, where he was surrounded by his family. He was born on March 9, 1933 to Leo John Shagena Sr. and Marguerite (Davies) in Lime City, Ohio. For many years Leo worked as an auto body repairman and he also raced stock cars at Toledo Speedway in the 50's and 60's. He was a member of Toledo Deaf Club and an avid Nascar fan. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting and spending his summers at his home in Copemish, Michigan. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Laurie (Jerry) Watkins, Alan Shagena, Steven Shagena, Shelly (Ron) Lanzenberger and Melissa (Jack) Payne; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three nephews; one niece; special friend, Joyce Allen and a host of dear friends. In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Shagena and sister, Loretta Stremmel.

The family will receive guests on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m.
