Lenard E. Dabon

September 21, 1943 — July 11, 2021

Lenard E. Dabon, age 77, of Holland, Ohio passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his home. He was born September 21, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois to Fredrick and Jessie (Allison) Dabon. Lenard graduated from Thornton High School in Chicago and went on to attend college. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving his country proudly from 1962-67.

In his younger years Lenard traveled with his brother, Marvin Junior of the Dells, supporting him in his concert performances in Detroit, Michigan. It was during these travels, Lenard met his future bride Pamela L. Thomas. They continued to be together marrying in 1996. Once married Lenard and Pam made their home in Holland, Ohio and together they raised their children.

Lenard was employed with Heatherdowns Country Club for more than 20 years. He was the Manager of the Locker Rooms and also served as a Bartender until he retired in 2000. Lenard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and could often be found enjoying the peace and quiet while fishing some of his favorite ponds and rivers.

Growing up in Chicago, Lenard developed a love for every Chicago Sports team there was (the Bulls, da Bears, the White Socks and the Cubbies to name a few...) and considered each one to be his favorite. He enthusiastically cheered them all onto numerous victories throughout his lifetime.

Most importantly, Lenard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend often putting others needs above his own. For years Lenard and Pam opened their home and their hearts to anyone who was down on their luck or just lonely, giving them a place to share a meal and rest their heads or sometimes just offering a listening ear for those that needed to renew their self-confidence or trust in others. In Lenard's eye, charity truly did begin at home and he walked that path every day of his life. This was also something he and Pam instilled in their children. They liked attending church when they could and made it a point to practice their faith at First Baptist Church in Spencer Township whenever possible.

Lenard was an avid bowler, playing on several leagues at Southwyck Lanes. He often served as Team Captain taking his teammates to at least 3 consecutive title wins through the years. He also enjoyed getting together with family and friends to barbecue and was lovingly referred to as "The Barbecue Man" for the delicious meals he prepared.

Lenard will be remembered as a loveable jokester, bringing a smile to everyone around him. If there was a story to tell, he was the one to tell it with style.

In addition to his parents, Lenard was also preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Denise Rivers and brothers, Marvin Junior, Melvin Dabon and Fan Dabon who was killed while serving in the military. Lenard is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pamela Lee Dabon; children, Anita Felisha Dabon, Tamara Dabon, Tiffin (LaToya Taylor) Brown, Ingrid (Feisal) Crumby and Jeffrey Wayne (Agnes) Rivers. His memory will also be cherished by his many dear grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and numerous friends.

The family will receive guests Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at Newcomer, SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900).
