Lemuel Carl Ligon, Sr.

Lemuel Carl Ligon Sr. was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world suddenly on Saturday September 3, 2022 at the age of 69 in Toledo, OH following a lengthy illness. He was born to the late Mamie Lou (Elliott) Ligon and Jessie Carl Ligon in Paducah, Kentucky on March 11, 1953. He was known as Carl to his family and friends.

Carl was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and West Kentucky Technical College. Carl later moved to Michigan where he met his first wife Evelyn (Johnson) Ligon and had 3 beautiful children from that union. Carl was employed with General Motors in Saginaw, MI and later transferred to Defiance, OH where he retired after 25 years of service.

Carl loved fishing with his children. He was excellent on the grill and loved cooking for his family and friends. Carl also loved to shop. He found great joy in spending time with his family especially his grandkids. He supported his grandkids in everything they did often helping with sports and attending their games. Carl was known to be very outspoken and had a great sense of humor. He kept everyone around him laughing. Carl was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed tremendously by his loving family.

Carl is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 30 years Barbara (Humes) Ligon of Defiance, OH; 2 sons, Lemuel Carl Ligon Jr. of Saginaw, MI, and Shermaine Ligon of Defiance, OH; 1 loving daughter Carla (Edward) Medina of Defiance, OH; 2 sisters, Glendell Jean Nailing, and Jessie Norine Ligon-Clark; 1 brother Charles Wayne Ligon;
9 grandchildren, Liana Ligon, Sidney Ligon, Janelle Johnson, Cedazhsa Harris, Kenya Medina, Alexandra Ligon, Kahlil Ligon, London Pippins and Layla Pippins; 2 great grandchildren, Nehemiah Riley and Jeremiah Brown.

Carl had many other family members that were very near and dear to him, too many to name but they all know how much he cared for them.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Jessie Carl Ligon and Mamie Lou (Elliott) Ligon-Martin; and a brother Aundrey Zingaro Ligon.

A Memorial Service to remember Lemuel Carl Ligon will take place at Empower Church at 9228 Hicksville Edgerton Road, Hicksville, Ohio on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 am. The family will receive guests at 10:00 a.m. at Empower Church.
Interment to follow service at Riverview Cemetery 29231 County Rd 424, Defiance, OH 43512. Repass dinner at Willow Room Banquet Hall 1965 Jefferson Ave., Defiance, Oh to follow.
