Lawrence S."Larry" Dreier, Sr., 67 of Maumee passed away on March 4, 2014. Born on September 20, 1946 to Clarence and Lucille Dreier, he was raised in East Toledo and graduated from Waite High School in 1964. He met the love of his life Hollie Bauman Dreier at Side Cut Park. They were married on June 3, 1967 and have been married 46 years. They have two children Lorah and Scott. He retired from the Ford Stamping Plant Maumee after 32 years as a machine repair man. He received his Associate's Degree in machine repair from Owens Community College in 1985.
Larry was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Fatima #3564 and was currently a member of Knights of Columbus St. Joseph's council 11370 and Monsignor Yates Assemble #2800. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Maumee. Larry enjoyed camping with his family, bowling, golf, cruises and the Caribbean.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife Hollie; daughter Lorah Mapes, son Scott (Valerie) Dreier; grandchildren Greg (Jessica) Rheinbolt, Maranda (Rashad) Rheinbolt, Haley Mapes, Tyler, Quinton, August, and Samantha Dreier; Great-grand children Darren, Lucas and Makinzlee; sisters Gail Hammer, Sue (Larry) Allen, and Marilyn (Danny Ray) Adkins; Brother Wayne(Darla) Dreier and his niece, God daughter and birthday buddy Cathy Amburn; sister-in- laws, Mary Cook and Janet (Harold) Wolff; brother-in-laws Ray(Sharon) Bauman and Terry (Gloria) Bauman and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Lucille Dreier, mother and father- in- law Velva and Glen Bauman, brother-in-law Donald Hammer, sister-in-law Jean Montgomery, and niece Jill Besgrove.
A special thanks to Dr. Thomas McAlear and staff for all the years of care and concern, the Lakes of Monclova, the staff at Hospice of NWO, especially the nurse Carolyn and to all the friends and family who came to visit Larry and provided him and his family with love and support.
The family will receive guests Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee. (Please meet directly at church). Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee.
In Lieu of Flowers per Larry's request contributions can be made to Hospice of NWO or the Knights of Columbus.
