Laverne E. Godfrey

LaVerne E. "Granny" Godfrey, age 92, of Toledo, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio - Toledo. She was born on May 9, 1923 in Plainfield, N.J. to George and Eva (Porter) Bennett. After 30 years of service, she retired from T.P.S. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling to Arizona for 26 years with her late husband, Kenneth; spending many summers at Lake Pleasant, MI and playing any kind of card games, especially bridge.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary (Ron) Skibinski, Linda Parkinson (Denny Hardy) and Peggy Orner; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and son, Kenneth J. Godfrey.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Yondota Chapter, No. 317, Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
