Laura Hughes

Laura E. (Soboleski) Hughes, age 92 of Toledo passed away peacefully at the home of her granddaughter on Monday, November 7, 2011 where she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 2, 1919 in Jefferson County, Jefferson, Ohio to the late Franklin T. and Mary Elizabeth (Watkowski) Soboleski. Laura married Patrick G. Hughes on September 15, 1945 in Toledo and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1971. She was a stay at home mom who was the best cook and delighted in growing the biggest tomatoes. Laura was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary E. Terrill, Thomas (Amy) Hughes and Michael Hughes; grandchildren, Noelle Mitchell, Angela Terrill, Evan and Aaron Hughes, Joseph and Benjamin Hughes; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jordan Mitchell along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; eleven brothers and sisters; grandson, Erik Hughes and daughter-in-law, Katherine (Scheibenzuber) Hughes.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Assumption, Ohio.
